ETEC 512 Artifact of Learning- Thought Paper #2: Neuroscience and Education
Having already developed an interest in this topic as a result of my exposure to the work of Dr. Judy Willis, this assignment allowed me to further research and reflect upon the role that neuroscience can play in the field of education. During the writing of this paper, I made the realization that teachers need to take an active role in bettering the educational opportunities for their students by staying informed about teaching approaches that are grounded in research and can be called best practice. Although I also acknowledge that it is not realistic to ask teachers to stay abreast of the latest educational research being gathered by neuroscientists, at the same time I also realize the potential that such research has in improving our current educational approaches in classrooms today. For those teachers who are looking for ways to move their educational approaches forward, neuroscience may aid them in meeting this goal.
