About the Author
Stefani Oakes is an elementary school teacher in the central Okanagan. She has been an educator since 1999 and has carried out a number of different roles throughout her career. She began her career as a Learning Assistance teacher and worked with students ranging from Kindergarten through grade nine. After four years in that role, she moved into a primary classroom for a few years, but eventually found herself teaching in an intermediate classroom and this is where she has stayed ever since. She is determined to meet the individual needs of her students and it was this strong desire to individualize her instruction that led her to the University of British Columbia’s Master of Educational Technology (MET) program. She enjoys the challenges involved in teaching 21st century learners and strives to mindfully incorporate technology into her teaching practices in order to enhance her students’ learning opportunities. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, playing both wallyball and volleyball, and long walks in beautiful surroundings. She is currently excited about having successfully completed the MET program and she is ready to embark on applying her new skills and knowledge in the classroom.
