Time has passed since the teacher completed her MET journey and despite the passage of time, she often returns to the final thoughts that she recorded as her endeavor came to an end:
Having learned from my past experiences, I have navigated the remainder of my journey without hesitation. I embraced each learning moment and pushed myself to try out new things while I still had access to both the resources and my classmates and instructors. I stumbled upon Camtasia and lost myself in this media making world, regretting that I found it only as my travels were coming to an end. Early on in this part of my journey, I came upon a reflecting pond. I lingered by the shores of the sparkling water as I fondly revisited the benchmarks of my travels. I earmarked various events, some of my great ‘ah ha’ moments and accomplishments, so that I could record them and preserve them in my memory. Just around the bend, I will be arriving at the end of my journey, but in my heart I know that while one part of my tale is finishing, a new and exciting chapter of my life is about to begin. Depending upon an author’s style and intentions, an epilogue can be included within a literary work for a number of reasons. It may be added to reveal the fate of the characters as the reader is transported into their future lives and what became of the major players is unveiled. An epilogue may be used by the author to wrap up loose ends and satisfy the curiosity of the reader before the tale is concluded. In some cases, it is used to hint at a sequel and serves to hook the reader, leaving them wanting more. The purpose of my inclusion of an epilogue within my ePortfolio is to serve as a means to reveal my own ‘fate’ as an educator via my classroom connections.
